Solar Carports Ireland completes latest solar carport project

Solar Carports Ireland, part of Scott Group, has completed its latest solar carport project. The installation brings together rows of solar PV canopies and covered parking, putting the space above the parking bays to productive use.

From steel structure to solar canopy

The project photographs capture the installation at different stages, from the supporting steelwork through to the panel-covered canopies. The finished layout shows how solar infrastructure can be incorporated above parking areas while retaining vehicle routes and pedestrian crossings.

Making more of parking space

Solar carports provide an alternative location for PV where roof space is limited or where a site wants to make greater use of its available footprint. Alongside electricity generation, the canopy provides shelter for vehicles beneath it.

For any commercial site, the design needs to reflect parking layout, access, electrical demand and grid connection requirements. Generation and financial returns depend on the final system specification and how the electricity is used.
