Enlighted and Siemens: what the transition means for Irish buildings
Enlighted announced a wind-down of its core lighting and IoT operations in April 2025, with the platform continuing through Siemens Smart Infrastructure. Here is what that means for buildings already running Enlighted — and for anyone specifying it now.

Enlighted announced in April 2025 that it would wind down its core lighting and IoT operations. For facilities teams running Enlighted across Irish sites, the immediate question was simple: does the system we have invested in still have a future? The answer is yes — the platform continues to be available and supported through Siemens Smart Infrastructure, with warranties and service commitments honoured by the Siemens team.
Nothing on the ceiling changes
An Enlighted installation is a sensor on every fixture, a gateway per floor, and the Energy Manager software where lighting behaviour, savings and third-party integrations live. That architecture does not change with ownership. The sensors stay powered from the fixture, the gateways keep passing data over Ethernet, and the reporting your team already uses keeps running.
What changes is the route to support, spares and future roadmap. That now runs through Siemens rather than the original Enlighted organisation, which is why it is worth confirming your site is registered correctly and your support contacts are current.
Why the data still matters more than the lighting
The reason Enlighted installations have held their value is not the dimming. It is that one sensor per fixture produces floor-wide occupancy, light level, temperature and energy data — which is what makes space utilisation reporting, occupancy-driven HVAC through Aire, and BLE asset tracking possible. Buildings using that data to drive HVAC and cleaning schedules are getting value well beyond the lighting energy saving.
Lighting typically falls by up to 70% without compromising comfort. The larger savings usually come from what the occupancy data lets you do with HVAC and space.
Specifying Enlighted today
For new projects, Enlighted remains a strong option where dense sensing and a mature analytics platform are the requirement, and where the Siemens support route suits the client. Where a client wants to avoid any dependency on a single platform, we would look at Bluetooth NLC systems such as Silvair or Blu2light, which run on an open standard with multiple manufacturers behind it.
Scott Group was the first to bring Enlighted to the Irish market and has delivered more Enlighted systems here than any other integrator. We continue to specify, commission and support the platform, and we are glad to review existing installations and confirm their support position.
